Olive wood mortar for everyday prep

I like having this mortar for daily kitchen prep when I do not want to pull out my larger stone mortar. It is compact, but it has enough weight to feel stable while using it. The olive wood is the main reason this piece stands out. The grain on my unit has a lot of character, and the natural rustic edge gives it an organic look without feeling unfinished. The bowl and pestle are both smoothly finished, and the pestle feels comfortable in my hand.I tested it with Himalayan salt, pepper, and garlic with coarse salt. It handled those normal kitchen tasks well, especially crushing garlic with salt and breaking down salt and pepper for cooking. The bowl is deep enough that the ingredients stayed inside while I used it. The base has the brand engraving, and the piece looks good enough to keep out on the counter. I washed it by hand before using it, and after drying, the wood looked a little dull. I followed the care card’s recommendation and applied a light coat of mineral oil, which brought back the richer shine. That care feels normal for an olive wood piece like this.I would not choose it for large batches or heavy-duty grinding, but for herbs, salt, pepper, garlic, and regular kitchen prep, it is practical and nice enough to keep on display.

• Does great with daily food prep and stays completely smooth. When it starts to get less smooth, I reseal it with food safe oil and it’s good to use to again.
